HyperFest 2023: A Tire Streets Recap

A Weekend of Drift, Networking, and Overcoming Obstacles

The HyperFest, held on May 19-21 at Virginia International Raceway, was a thrilling experience for us at Tire Streets. Despite some challenges, we were able to make the most of the event and engage with a wide range of attendees.

Thursday: Arrival and Initial Challenges

Our journey began with an early arrival in Charlotte. After securing our Air BNB (despite an unexpected ant problem) and our passes for the event, we scouted the area for our booth setup. Positioned between Hawk Performance Brakes and VP Racing Fuels, we were in a prime location. The rest of the day was spent waiting for the rest of the team, securing our $40 Power Wheels truck, and preparing for the event.

Friday: Setup and Media Hiccup

Friday morning saw us setting up our booth quickly and efficiently. However, we had a bit of a mixup with media credentials for Caitlin and Drew, so they spent the majority of the day documenting everything happening within the pits and paddock. With such a wide variety of daily drivers, rally cars, road course warriors, offroad machines, and drift allstars in attendance, our media team was able to capture a little bit of everything, even with the credential hiccup. Despite this hiccup, we had numerous productive conversations at the booth and were pleasantly surprised by the foot traffic on the opening day.

Saturday was the main event day. With media vests finally in hand, Drew and Caitlin were able to capture trackside footage while the rest of the team worked the booth. Despite feeling under the weather, I managed to secure some accessories for our Power Wheels truck. The team did an excellent job holding down the fort during my absence. The day concluded with the Koni Power Wheels Attack presented by Tire Streets and a burnout competition, both of which were crowdpleasers.

Sunday: A Slow Day and Reflections

Sunday was a slower day in terms of foot traffic, with the team spending most of the day walking the event and handing out remaining discount cards, t-shirts, and giveaway premiums. Despite being more of a "drivers day," we made the most of the opportunity to engage with attendees.
