Competition Contingency V. Sponsorship: Which One is For Me?

You’ve won a couple of events and now you’re feeling pretty badass, so why would you run on $hi*ty rubber? I mean you’re a sideways big shot now. It’s time to strike a deal with a performance tire retailer. It’s what you’ve been working towards… the almighty SPONSORSHIP. 🤩

Time to start blowing up, *clears throat* I mean, reaching out to prospective business partners.

First, you need to understand what you are looking for. Is it going to be getting tires for cheap in exchange for running the company’s stickers? Is it going to be getting free tires in exchange for high-level performance on the track while running the company’s stickers and creating top-notch content for the company’s marketing team?

There is a lot to consider and weigh against where you are (honestly) in your career and what you are willing to do. So, let’s look at the options:

Traditional Sponsorship

Traditional sponsorship programs are exciting and often a major milestone in your career.  Not only is it a legitimate recognition of your success as a driver, but it also means running on better rubber at a reasonable cost.

Typical sponsorship contracts include large discounts or free tires (based on your notoriety and history of success), but that comes at a cost. Not only do you need to run in competitions reppin’ your sponsor’s stickers, but you may have to provide more content (images, video, written content, etc.). Not to mention, the continuation of your contract depends on your continued success on the track... no pressure

While the sponsorship programs will (generally) offer you the best deals on the rubber you need, it comes with strings attached. Granted, most drivers do not mind these strings and enthusiastically follow through with their end of the bargain.

One of the biggest things to remember about traditional sponsorship programs is that you become that brand’s ambassador. From when you are drifting, to talking about the product, to the way you conduct yourself off the track, you now represent the brand that sponsors you. This entails talking about the product (or brand) as a spokesperson, so-to-speak. You also will be held to a higher standard of conduct and will be expected to maintain a high level of performance on the track, all while consistently promoting the brand that sponsors you.

If this is something that is down your alley, then the Tire Streets Sponsorship Program may be for you. Head over to tirestreets.com and apply for a chance to be selected.

If you’re more an NSA (No Strings Attached) kinda driver… it’s cool we get it. There is a program just for you.

Competition Contingency Program

The competition contingency program is for drift drivers who are kicking ass, taking names and don’t have time for strings to be holding them back.

So, what is it?

This program is for ANY driver (this program is exclusive to the drifting application exclusively) who is registered to compete in any sanctioned event with set 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. When you register for these events head to our Competition Contingency Program page at tirestreets.com and fill out the application with the information needed.

Once you are approved for the program you can buy your rubber for 35% off the full retail price. From there we will mail you your rubber and a TS sticker to display on your car. Just run your competition displaying Tire Streets on your car, and when you place, let us know to qualify for FREE TIRES on your next order.

If you’re a guy who wants some recognition, just tag us on your social media for a chance to be featured across our various platforms.

The Final Word

Both the Sponsorship Program and the Contingency Program have their pros and cons. If you’re looking for the best deals, don’t mind the extra work, and are cool with contracts, the Sponsorship Program may be for you. If you want something more laid back, great deals on rubber, recognition, and no extra requirements, the Competition Contingency Program is the one for you.
It all comes down to what you need, what you’re willing to do, and what you qualify for. Also note, most drivers do not get selected for sponsorship. So, don’t feel discouraged if you aren’t selected. Apply for the Competition Contingency Program, and work your way up to a full-blown sponsorship.

As always, if you have any questions… hit us up
